Without a doubt, the September 18th “Social on the Circle” was the biggest and best ECA&B picnic we have had in a long time. Hundreds of Central Eastmoor citizens enjoyed the weather, ice cream, games, and music by the jazz band, “Breezin”. I would like to thank all of the committee members who worked so hard to make the day a huge success. The committee included: Herb and Laurel Talabere, Scott and Amy Huggins, Elliot Fineberg, Chris Allen, Richard Wynkoop, Pat Logsdon and Ann Seren.
A special thank you to all of the high school students who volunteered to supervise the games and activities with all the young children, dip and serve ice cream, and anything else that Scott Huggins, the volunteer coordinator, asked them to do. Another “thank you” goes out to Lt. Sean Kiess and his crew from Station 21 of the Columbus Fire Fighters. They brought their engine to the social and let the children (and sometimes adults) climb on the fire engine and check out the fire gear.
We also need to recognize Laurel Talabere for the outstanding signs and pictures; Herb Talabere for his leadership and advise; all the adults who chipped in and helped to dip and serve the ice cream; and to Richard Wynkoop, Elliot Fineberg, and Scott Huggins whom all went beyond the call of duty to make sure the “Social on the Circle” was an enjoyable event for all who attended.
And, as always, TT Murph’s came through again. This time TT Murph’s supplied the cost for half the pizzas for the hard working students. Thank you, TT Murph’s.
Chris Allen and Amy Huggins did a great job of organizing the program for the Eastmoor Markers dedication and Gary Allen proved to be a great masters of ceremonies. We were all happy to hear from our Columbus City Council members, Eileen Paley, Michelle Mills and Pricilla Tyson. They each had good things to say about Central Eastmoor and our civic association. Total Rental, on East Main Street, donated the use of the seating.
Congratulations to ten-year old, Ellie Tanner, who won the annual “Mini Golf Challenge” on our nine-hole miniature golf course.
Also, we had a group of local business people (listed here) who sponsored portions of the activities by donating dollars and/or merchandise and equipment to help make the “Social on the Circle” a great success. I would suggest that each of us should consider stopping by these places of business to say, “thank you”, and to possibly use their services. I am sure the business people would appreciate hearing from all of us.
I hope that I have not left someone out and I thank you for permitting me to serve. If you would like to be involved in ECA&B by serving on one of the committees, please contact our president and volunteer.
