Eastmoor Civic Association & Blockwatch
The Eastmoor Civic Association & Blockwatch is an all-volunteer, resident-run civic association aimed at preserving, promoting and enhancing Eastmoor’s unique qualities. Recently, the Eastmoor Civic Association & Blockwatch reorganized and regenerated its efforts to tie the Eastmoor community more tightly together through defined communication, safety and development initiatives, described below. The Eastmoor Civic Association & Blockwatch is headed up by a board consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee Chairs.
The ECA&B holds quarterly Blockwatch and Action Group meetings and two general meetings, one in April and one in October. Occasionally, a particular issue demands neighborhood attention and a special meeting is called. Residents may add their name to the Eastmoor eList to receive email meeting notices, community alerts and the ECA&B quarterly e-Newsletter. Please register here, include you name, street address and email address, if you wish to be on this list.
Residents of Eastmoor are homeowners and renters residing within the boundaries of Broad Street, Main Street, Gould Road and James Road. All Eastmoor residents – renters and homeowners -- are encouraged and invited to participate in community activities and projects. Because success and progress relies heavily on the collaborative contributions of Eastmoor neighbors, please consider becoming an active and enthusiastic participant in the Eastmoor Civic Association & Blockwatch.
The Eastmoor Civic Association: What We've Done, Where We're Going.
The Eastmoor Civic Association has taken off in a new direction, with committees and efforts underway to realize Eastmoor's communication, social and civic potential. Since October 2004, working on an aggressive timeline, the ECA&B has created an electronic notification list, the Eastmoor eList, with more than 200 residents signed up. March 1st, 2005, the new ECA&B website, www.eastmoorlive.com, was announced. From our created Action Group, five committees -- the Beautification Committee, Neighborhood Events Committee, Economic Development Committee, Neighborhood Standards Committee and Communications Committee -- have been formed, with social and civic events planned for spring and summer for those who are interested. Marketing and promotion of Eastmoor and its boundaries along with ongoing work in shaping area development and issues continues.
The ECA&B has a solid Blockwatch infrastructure in place and Eastmoor now plays a larger, more influential role in area crime and safety initiatives. Safety and crime reduction along the Main and Broad Street corridors continues to be a major objective. Eastmoor, in collaborative efforts with other area groups, enjoyed success in the temporary closure of Motel One and more recently in the closure of Club XXX-tasy found at the corner of Main and Napoleon. Together, with focus and determination, we can make our vision of a clean, safe and updated eastside a reality.
